Study Tours

Why Study tours?

EKK regularly organises study tours to the places of the Medha scholars. These tours are meant to meet the beneficiary students of EKK in their own world and assess their socio-economic conditions as well as understand the exact neediness surrounding their days and nights. This helps the learning process of the members and volunteers of EKK and on the other hand helps the students to gain more and more confidence on EKK.

Study Tour - 2007
Ukhura

The 60th Independence Day on 15 August 2007 is memorable in EKK’s calendar because the first ever study tour took place on that day. An EKK team was off to Belerhat, Ukhura to visit Tridib Ray (Medha EKK study tour at Ukhurascholar 2007-09) and his surroundings. Tridib was selected for total sponsorship and community development under the Medha Project. The team went to his former school & then to his home. It came to know that Tridib is the first student of his village to study Science subjects for Higher Secondary examination and he has to go to another school in another district just because there is non-availability of Science stream in his former school. Apart from all these day-long journeys on a daily basis, he would teach students of lower classes from economically challenged families in his leisure time as per the community development plan of EKK. It was a great first-hand experience for all the EKK teammates present on that day.
